How did you learn to do all of this yourself?

First and foremost, to save money! As a solo homeowner, I have to pinch pennies wherever I can. But once I started doing projects myself, I learned that I loved the work. Plus, it’s so empowering to walk in a beautiful finished room and think to myself, “Yep. I did that!” 💪🏼

Why DIY instead of hiring out work?

Because I have an old house (built in 1914), I try to incorporate a lot of traditional elements and antiques into every room. But I also love mixing and matching with different eras and styles. And I love color. If I had to describe my design, I’d call it Eclectic Maximalism. I love unique thrifted decor and mixing old with new. I get a lot of inspiration from walking around antique stores but also from the usual places like Instagram and Pinterest. You can follow my Pinterest boards.

Where do you get Design inspiration?
