Hi, welcome!
My name is Renee, and I’m a single gal in Texas renovating my first home by myself. I bought my home in May 2021 and didn’t even know how to use a drill. Now, I’m a proud power tool nerd sharing my love of self-taught DIY with others 🙂
Of course, I can’t forget to give a shoutout to the world’s best supurrvisor, Beef 🐱

Frequently Asked Questions
How did you learn to do all of this yourself?
I learned everything from observing other DIYers on Instagram and watching videos from the pros on YouTube. I also try to shadow any contractor that I hire to do work in my home so that I can learn from them, too.
Why DIY instead of hiring out work?
First and foremost, to save money! As a solo homeowner, I have to pinch pennies wherever I can. But once I started doing projects myself, I learned that I loved the work. Plus, it’s so empowering to walk in a beautiful finished room and think to myself, “Yep. I did that!” 💪🏼
Why did you name your cat Beef?
Beef was a stray tomcat in my parents’ neighborhood that I slowly befriended whenever I visited. Because he wasn’t fixed before “cat puberty,” he’d developed a thick face and neck to protect himself during fights, but his lower body still looked like a skinny stray. So, essentially, he looked like a little linebacker 😂 I started calling him “lil beefcake,” and when he finally let me adopt him, the name Beef just stuck. But his full formal name is Sir Arthur “Beef” Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington (obviously).
Where do you get the inspiration for your interior designs?
Because I have an old house (built in 1914), I try to incorporate a lot of traditional elements and antiques into every room. But I also love mixing and matching with different eras and styles. And I love color. If I had to describe my design, I’d call it Eclectic Maximalism. I love unique thrifted decor and mixing old with new. I get a lot of inspiration from walking around antique stores but also from the usual places like Instagram and Pinterest. You can follow my Pinterest boards here.
I’m invested now. How do I learn more about you (and Beef)?
Every week, I send out a quick email newsletter with a sneak peek of something happening behind the scenes as well as five things making me happy. I tend to share more personal tidbits about my life there (…and cute pics of Beef)! You can sign up for my newsletter here.
