Green is not only my favorite color, it’s also the color I painted my home. It’s serene but still energizing, and it’s a classic choice for an exterior paint color. But green can go sideways… what looks good indoors doesn’t always translate to the outdoors, especially when viewed in bright sunlight and surrounded by clashing green foliage.
So in this list, I share my five favorite BEHR green exterior paint colors, which you can find at any location of The Home Depot. If you’re open to other paint brands, check out all of my favorite exterior greens.

BEHR Conifer Green
BEHR Conifer Green feels like a warm hug and looks perfect on a cottage-style home with creamy trim, as shown above. It has enough of a gray undertone to not appear too bright and overwhelming in direct sunlight. Conifer Green has a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 18, meaning that it reflects 18% of the light that hits its surface. This means that in bright direct sunlight, it will appear like a medium green and in the shadows, a dark moody green, as you can see on the siding above.

BEHR Pastoral
If you’re looking for sophisticated drama, BEHR Pastoral is for you. It’s a deep herby color with enough of a gray undertone that it feels muted and sophisticated. This green has an LRV of just 11, making it a true dark green that almost camouflages into the landscape on a cloudy day. I would love to see this color on a modern new build or a mountain home with dark trim for even more drama, as seen above.

BEHR Hunter’s Hollow
If you’re looking for something much lighter, I’ll happily refer you to BEHR Hunter’s Hollow. With an LRV of 32, this beautiful medium green-gray will appear like a very light green in direct sunlight and a medium-dark green in the shadows. It’s bright, soothing, and sophisticated. This is the highest LRV that I typically recommend for siding, as anything brighter will appear more like white in direct sunlight. If you live in a sunny area and want to ensure the colorful look no matter the light, the LRV 30 range is ideal.

BEHR Boreal
BEHR Boreal is a cool green gray that looks beautiful on everything from traditional homes to modern new builds. I would especially love to see it with a dark contrasting trim for added moodiness. Boreal has an LRV of 20, which makes it a happy middle ground between something like Hunter’s Hollow and Pastoral. If you like moody but not too moody and greens that lean a little blue, this is a great option.

BEHR North Woods
And finally we have the moodiest of the bunch, BEHR North Woods. This shade is extremely similar to Pastoral, but North Woods is slightly darker with an LRV of 10 and less vibrant in color. It’s more like a green-black and is designed to feel like the dark, cool interior of a forest. It pairs beautifully with natural wood and modern black trim, as seen on the home above.
