Sherwin-Williams Seaworthy Interior Paint

Whether you’re looking for navy, teal, or blue-black, Sherwin-Williams has some of my favorite dark blues out there. Technically, any paint color with a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 0–40 falls in the dark paint color spectrum. But to me, dark is dark, so this list will cover dark blues that hover on the lower end of the spectrum, from 4 to 13. So without further adieu, here are my five favorite Sherwin-Williams dark blue interior paint colors.

Sherwin-Williams Naval

Let’s start off strong with Sherwin-Williams’ most popular dark blue paint color, Naval. This is a true deep dark navy blue with an LRV of just 4. What I love about this dark navy is that it has a slight green-gray undertone, and I think that warmth helps it appear more vibrant even in low light. With a higher paint sheen like on the built-ins in the living room above, you can see that Naval can look like a dark denim blue in direct sun, or almost black in the shadows. It’s a beautiful deep, dark, dramatic option.

Sherwin-Williams Dark Night

Like your blues a little more green and pigmented? Same. That’s the beauty of SW Dark Night. It has the same LRV of Naval at just 4, but the added green makes it feel rich, like a deeply blackened teal. I think this color would look perfect in a moody modern space, either made even more dramatic with black accents or used as a bold backdrop for brass or copper hardware.

Sherwin-Williams Deep Sea Dive

If you like your dark blues less dark and more blue, let’s talk SW Deep Sea Dive. With a name like Deep Sea Dive, you can bet that this color also has a healthy green undertone, and it also has just enough gray to make it feel sophisticated without losing the boldness of this color. It’s relaxing but cheerful and in direct light with a higher sheen, you can see in the above kitchen that it can even appear more like a medium blue. But if you have a shady room that you want to turn into a deep dark cave that still has a richness of pigment to it, this is also a great option for you.

Sherwin-Williams Seaworthy

Like the idea of SW Deep Sea Dive but think it’s too vibrant? Try SW Seaworthy. Similar name, similar tones, but darker and more muted with a cool slate undertone. This color also has an LRV of 7, so it will look almost black in dark corners but will appear as a true teal in direct sunlight. SW Seaworthy is a designer favorite for all of these reasons. It’s one of those perfect chameleon colors.

Sherwin-Williams Waterloo

Let’s wrap up this list with the lightest color of the bunch, SW Waterloo. This is a perfect deep denim blue with a warm gray undertone that keeps it from feeling chalky and stale. Its LRV of 13 means that even in dark corners, it will still appear more like a navy than black. If you’re just dipping your toes into the world of dark paint colors, this dark blue nay be a great option for you, especially when used in a room with good sunlight.
