Sherwin-Williams Sky High Interior Paint

If you like soft, airy, soothing rooms, light blue is the perfect choice for you. Traditionally, these shades have a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of over 60, meaning that they reflect over 60% of the light that hits their surfaces. In this list, I’ll include some light blues that are right on the border of being a medium to light blue because they’re just too pretty to leave out. So let’s get into it. Here are my five favorite light blue paint colors from Sherwin-Williams.

Sherwin-Williams Moonmist

If you like a cool blue that doesn’t look too gray and powdery, even in the shade, SW Moonmist is a great option for you. This light blue has an LRV of 68, so it will look very light and bright in direct sun and deeper but never moody in shadowy corners, as you can see in the living room above. SW Moonmist also has a tiny touch of yellow undertone that balances out the coolness, so it may appear slightly blue-green in south-facing rooms with warm light.

Sherwin-Williams Sleepy Blue

If you like the look of SW Moonmist but want something slightly darker and with a more pronounced green undertone, look to SW Sleepy Blue. With an LRV of 58, this color sits right on the cusp of a medium to light blue, so it will look light and bright in direct sunlight and slightly moodier but not too dark in the shadows, as you can see in the kitchen above. This is a beautiful calming color for nurseries and bedrooms.

Sherwin-Williams Sleepy Hollow

Not to be confused with SW Sleepy Blue, SW Sleepy Hollow is a cooler and more vibrant light blue, again sitting right at the border of a medium and light blue with an LRV of 57. If you want a light blue that will always appear blue, never green or gray no matter the light, then SW Sleepy Hollow is a great option for you. This is a soothing but cheerful color that is perfect for bedrooms.

Sherwin-Williams Copen Blue

This is one of those tricky historical paint colors that was once considered a blue, but we now may consider it a green. Was the dress blue or gold? You get the idea. But regardless, SW Copen Blue is a beautiful soft blue-green that’s part of Sherwin-Williams’ Historic Colors series. With an LRV of 59, this color also sits right on the border of a medium and light blue paint color. And because it’s so well-balanced between blue, green, and gray, SW Copen Blue will shift colors throughout the day in different lighting like a chameleon.

Sherwin-Williams Sky High

And finally, we have the lightest of the bunch, Sherwin-Williams Sky High. If you like a truly light blue paint color, this may be the perfect option for you. It’s light and airy with a slight yellow undertone that keeps things feeling cheerful and fresh. If you have a room without much natural light that you don’t want to ever feel moody, SW Sky High is a great choice. You can see in the attic bedroom above how the color will change from almost white in direct sunlight to a more medium calming tone in full shade.
