My Top 5 Valspar Green Exterior Paint Colors

Valspar Sprig of Sage Exterior Paint

Green has always had my heart, and it’s the shade I ultimately chose for my own home’s exterior. It strikes that balance of feeling peaceful yet lively, which makes it a timeless option outside. That said, picking the right exterior green can be tricky. A color that feels perfect on an interior wall can shift dramatically outdoors, especially in direct sunlight and when it’s competing with the natural greens in your landscaping.

So to make your search a bit easier, here are my five favorite Valspar green exterior paint colors, which you can find at any location of Lowe’s. If you’re open to using other paint brands, check out all of my top exterior green paint colors.

Valspar Agreeable Green

If you want a true cheerful green, look no further than Valspar Agreeable Green. This shade has balanced warm and cool tones and a slight gray undertone that helps it appear more muted and sophisticated for an exterior. Agreeable Green has a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 28, meaning that it reflects 28% of the light that hits its surface. This is a beautiful LRV for exteriors, as it will look like light green in direct sunlight and medium-dark green in the shadows, as seen on the home above.

Valspar Sage Slate

If you’re looking for a cooler, deeper green, look to Valspar Sage Slate, which has a strong gray undertone that softens and calms the green. With an LRV of 19, this green will be darker than Agreeable Green and provides a beautiful contrast for white trim and brickwork, like on the home above. Be aware that if you live in a very cloudy region, Sage Slate may appear more like a greenish gray.

Valspar Warm Eucalyptus

If you like the idea of Sage Slate but want a color that will look like a true green even on overcast days, try Valspar Warm Eucalyptus. This color has a similar LRV of 21 but a warmer undertone that will counteract the cool light of a cloudy day. In direct warm light it may appear more olive, like on the home above, but its undertones are beautifully balanced. Warm Eucalyptus would look as good with contrasting white trim as it would with dark dramatic trim.

Valspar Sprig of Sage

For a lighter green, look to Valspar Sprig of Sage. This beautifully balanced green has a gray undertone that softens it in sunlight but enough pigment to make a statement. With an LRV of 36, this is the lightest green of the bunch and also hovers at the top end of the LRVs I recommend for exterior colors. Any lighter and the color would become completely washed out to white in direct sunlight. This is a beautiful color especially for a more shaded home, as seen above.

Valspar Japanese Seaweed

And finally, if you’re looking to make a very bold statement, we have Valspar Japanese Seaweed. I think this color is so beautiful on exteriors, especially when paired with dark trim and woodwork like on the home above. It’s dramatic but still warm and inviting. With an LRV of just 7, expect Japanese Seaweed to look like black in the deepest shadows but pop in the sunshine. If you want drama or just a house that disappears into a shaded landscape, this is a beautiful option.
