My dining room had an exposed wood ceiling full of holes when I first moved in. I had it drywalled, painted it green, painted the exposed shiplap walls a warm white, and coated the trim and original built-in hutch with cream—all inspired by the colors of a magnolia blossom. I also built my dining table from scratch, which was my first woodworking project ever.
